About Dine on the Land at Locavore Farm

Come experience the best in outdoor dining, June through September (Saturdays) when you Dine on the Land at Locavore Farm. Our purpose each season is to grow good ingredients for a multi-course feast served at our beautifully hand-crafted farm tables. We dine al fresco when weather permits, setting out tables across our fields or around the gardens.  Rain? We’ve got you covered – literally!  Our 80’-foot barn stands ready to host every occasion.

You arrive around 5 PM and check-in at our outdoor bar to raise a glass to the slow life. With a locally crafted beer, wine or bourbon lemonade in-hand, Farmer Jones will take you on a walking farm tour to learn about Locavore’s passion for land, food, and community.

Ingredients are picked hours before you arrive. The outdoors become our rustic kitchen where every course is smoked, charred, and roasted on our 12’-foot wood-fire grill. Our menus highlight the flavors of every in-season vegetable as well as our wholesome, pasture-raised meats. We serve a light bite upon your arrival, followed by four more seated courses before you gather around the fire with our homemade marshmallows.

All the while, for the past four hours, you’ve enjoyed live music, danced in the grass, sat around the pond and reconnected with friends, family, and wide open spaces in one of our region’s richest agricultural communities. Grant Park (IL) located in Kankakee County – 43 miles south of downtown Chicago. It feels like the first step into the middle of nowhere; and yet, it feels like you’re visiting somewhere very familiar as you return to your rural roots for a much-needed trip into the country.

Your ticket includes:

• An intimate farm tour

• A field-to-fire, multi-course feast

• Live music

• A bonfire (weather-permitting)

• Your first drink is on us. After that, we have a variety of wines, locally-brewed craft beer, and seasonal cocktails available for purchase. Water and ice tea, as well as coffee are included.

FAQs:

  • COVID-19: We no longer set up our 107’-foot communal table. We have many farm tables and seat guests within their party groups. We are quite capable of offering a spacious, safe, and fun event.  We accommodate every size party group. Guests are encouraged to where masks when they are unable to distance.

  • Vegetarian or Vegan? Lots of our dinner guests are plant-strong, and we’re happy to feed you the most delicious veggie-filled meal on the planet. Just indicate your preference when you buy your ticket.

  • Gluten-Sensitive? Many of our guests are gluten-sensitive and we take this seriously. We don’t have a dedicated gluten-free facility, so we can’t guarantee cross-contamination.

  • Are drinks included? One drink token is provided when you check-in and non-alcoholic beverages, such as lemonade, ice tea, and coffee are also included. Additional alcoholic beverages are available for purchase at the bar. Prices range from $8 - $12.

  • Refunds? Sorry, no refunds. Your ticket is transferable though, so we suggest selling it to a friend.

  • Rain? We’ve got you covered! Jaws hit the floor when dinner guests step into our 80’-foot pole barn. If the weather is going to be questionable, you’ll enjoy dinner in our pole barn—and don’t worry, the animals have their own, separate barn.

  • I have kids, is this event for them too? Yes! Many of our families have kids, you’ll find them roasting s’mores, kicking a ball around, and making some new friends. We also have a kid-friendly menu that is delicious and wholesome, using ingredients from the land.

  • What should I wear? Great question! Our dress code—comfortable. Wear whatever you like. We’re not telling you how to dress but you’ll probably want to wear flat shoes for walking comfortably around the farm.
