Day One

Overview

  • Learn how to plant & save seeds

  • Catch & identify species around the pond

  • Plan the menu for Friday's Feast based on what's growing in the garden

  • Create and re-purposed craft

  • Lots of free-time with the animals, scavenger hunts, and wide-open space to slow down and renew the imagination.

Day Two

Overview

  • Learn how to build good soil and compost

  • Identify plants around the pond and explore its ecosystem

  • Understand dining etiquette and work with a culinary team on the first course of Friday's Feast.

  • Design and create invitations for the Friday Night Feast

  • Lots of free-time with the animals, scavenger hunts, and wide-open space to slow down and renew the imagination.

Day Three

Overview

  • Learn about the insects that help & hinder the garden

  • Identify micro-organisms around the pond and explore its ecosystem

  • Continue dining etiquette Understand dining etiquette and work with a culinary team on the second course of Friday's Feast.

  • Build a worm farm for your own backyard

  • Lots of free-time with the animals, scavenger hunts, and wide-open space to slow down and renew the imagination.

Day Four

Overview

  • Learn the types of mulch for each plant, irrigation and how to conserve water in the garden. 

  • Identify fish in pond its ecosystem; create a mini balanced ecosystem

  • Understand hospitality and work with a culinary team on the third course of Friday's Feast.

  • Create a solar oven to roast marshmallows

  • Lots of free-time with the animals, scavenger hunts, and wide-open space to slow down and renew the imagination.

Day Five

Family Feast

Overview

  • Campers and their family arrives at 5:30 PM for a feast and they have prepared for throughout the week. Enjoy an art & project exhibit in the barn, cash bar, and bonfire with s'mores.

We are excited to offer a five-day camp to introduce kids ages 6yrs. to 13yrs. to the rhythms of farm life and country living. Campers will participate in the preparation of Locavore Farm's signature farm dinner events, exclusively created for parents and siblings. Campers will work with chefs, farmers, along with science and art teachers as they explore nature and the relationship between farm and table.

Campers will learn about backyard homesteading and how to become more self reliant as they observe the origins of good food and the labor involved in bringing good food to the table. Camp is July 19 - July 23 from 8:45 am to 1:00 PM; Friday, July 23, campers come with their guests for a Family Feast, which starts at 5:30 PM when their family will Dine on the Land!

The cost per camper is $300. Cost includes snacks and lunch. Lunches will be gluten-free and vegetarian. The cost includes all materials and supplies needed for each day and activity. The cost also includes three tickets for camper to give family or friends to the Friday Feast. If camper needs additional tickets they are $35 per person and limited up to three.
