Sourdough & Breadmaking Workshop
Sourdough has been around for thousands of years and recently has increased in popularity. The unmatched taste, health benefits, and self sustainability are some of the main draws, but the terminology and techniques can be intimidating. Our instructor is all about sharing the gift of sourdough and setting your fears aside. Come join us for an opportunity to gather and learn about a simple method around a complex topic!
A small class with a maximum of 5 participants. Each step of the process will be executed by each member with her guidance & instruction.
Our instructor will be educating on the science behind the fermentation process, the benefits of sourdough vs conventional bread, and what you’ll need to start baking at home.
Each participant will go home with their starter in a 32 ounce jar, a freshly baked loaf, and an educational handout with bonus recipes!

Wild Food & Foraging Workshop
Reconnect with nature through the lost art of foraging for wild foods! Take a trek and explore the hunt for wild, nutrient dense foods in their biodiverse habitats, from the forest to the fields, you’ll gather inspiration and information to shop as local as your own backyard!
You will understand foraging and how it fits into a permaculture paradigm, why to learn and practice foraging for food and wellness; you'll receive a guide on the list of wild foods and how to incorporate them into your diet and wellness regimen, as well as learn how to safe and you explore nature when harvesting. Discover an extensive library of resources. You will make-and-take home your own wild craft good, foraged and made at Locavore.
This class is taught by Michele Ritchie who is on staff at Locavore Farm, certified in Western Herbology, Conservation, Permaculture Design and a self-taught, lifetime learner of all things Botany!
